Walking in the Presence of God

When I think about the extraordinary gift of walking with God, I’m reminded of something Priscilla Shirer said that left a lasting impact on me. In one of her powerful teachings, she emphasized that the moment we become believers, the Holy Spirit—God Himself—takes up residence within us. He is not a distant figure or an abstract force but the living, active presence of God in our lives. That truth changed everything for me.

Let me share a personal story. I once faced a situation where my patience was completely drained. I had no strength left to respond with grace, but in that moment, I felt the Spirit remind me to pause, breathe, and let Him guide me. What followed was nothing short of miraculous—a calmness I couldn’t summon on my own. It was a living testament to what Priscilla teaches: the Holy Spirit equips us to live beyond our natural capacity.

Priscilla Shirer also talks about the profound difference between the Spirit being in us and the Spirit resting on us. She explains that while the Spirit’s indwelling is permanent—He will never leave us—His presence on us is something we must pursue. It requires living in alignment with God’s truth, creating a life that welcomes His presence like a magnet. That thought challenged me deeply. Was I creating space for God to rest on me, or were my choices pushing Him away?

I once heard Priscilla draw a comparison to Simeon from Scripture. The Spirit wasn’t just in Simeon; it was on him. That kind of divine favor, where others can see the unique grace of God in your life, is something I long for. It’s a life marked by holiness—not as a burdensome duty, but as a joyful response to His love.

This brings me to something I’m incredibly excited to share—a new podcast series I’m launching as part of my “Pearls of Wisdom” blog category. In one episode, I’ll be diving into Priscilla Shirer’s teaching on walking in the presence of God, exploring her insights, and adding my own reflections. I’ll also include clips of her message to bring her powerful words directly to you. It’s my way of extending the blessing of her teaching to even more people.

Walking in the presence of God is a journey—a daily surrender that transforms not just us, but everyone we encounter. I hope this article and the upcoming podcast inspire you to seek His presence more deeply, to live a life that welcomes His Spirit both in you and on you, and to reflect His love in all that you do.
